My mother captured in a punt
About 1947/48
In the punt, from the top: my Father's sister Margaret, Françoise (my father's new wife from Belgium) and my father's sister Joan. Margaret and Joan were not yet married and Françoise could not yet speak English.
The photo isn't very sharp because it was scanned from a small snapshot but it tells a story if you want it to, Françoise being huddled in the bottom of the punt and my aunts-to-be seeming grandiose and pleased with themselves as they cruise gently along on a hot summers day. I really like this photo. Their expressions make it, especially Margaret's. Today, March 17th 2024, Joan still lives and so does Michael, her brother (my uncle).
