Francis in Loches, France, 1993
Aged four
Walking from our camp site to the town of Loches in the Loire region of France which has lots of Châteaux. The Château de Loches is behind Francis in the background. The town's sports pitches and running track are behind the hedge on the right, then a park. The camp site is municipal, or was then, and very good with excellent indoor and outdoor swimming pools. We liked how they were mostly used by French people, including parties of school children who had walked from the town. Loches is not really on the 'tourist trail' so it's a good place for a family holiday in France that feels in France.
I don't remember exactly which of our sons came on which holiday in which year but Robert, Nick and Francis were there in 1993. Thomas, aged fourteen, probably had other plans.
Happy days, certainly.
This year, 2024, our grandson Elliot is about the same age Francis was then.
