My mother flying a kite
Abersoch Warren beach 1960s
My mother Françoise loved kites. I never asked why but perhaps they signified free spirit. One of her 'Bolton' paintings is of back-street children flying a kite with a very long tail. Sometimes she wrote things on her pictures in very small letters. On the kite picture she had written 'think for yourself' on the kite's tail. I think about this often. It seems good advice, especially nowadays.
